This course is for students with a passion for maths with an interest in how computers and computer systems work, how they are constructed and programmed. You'll need to have studied ICT or computing at GCSE to move on to onto it. You might be choosing computer science because you're headed for a computing career, though thinking computationally (logically, using reasoning, breaking complicated things down and being able to express instructions precisely) is a skill that can be used in a wide range of other careers too. To study Computer Science A level, you'll need a keen interest in computers and strong technical, mathematical and problem solving skills.

What you need to get on

To enrol at EMS students must have a meet our minimum entry criteria, take an entrance test and have an interview. Minimum criteria: 8 in Mathematics GCSE, 8 in Physics or Science GCSE, 6 in English GCSE, at least 5 GCSE's grade 9 - 5 GCSE grades.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
