What the college says

Have you ever turned unwanted objects or waste materials into entirely new products? Upcycling is the ideal way to combine creative ideas with a passion for sustainability and entrepreneurship. The course aims to show how several modern craft techniques and decorative finishing touches can be used to upcycle and update old everyday household items, making something old into something new and beautiful. Also included are ideas on how to market your items should you wish to. We will cover up to date commercial ideas that could transfer old furniture items from around the home into new and improved decorative items.

What you need to get on

A 1.5-inch decorator’s paint brush for the first session. For the second session: Although the tutor will discuss items to bring for this session in week one, you will need to source a small wooden household item that you would like to upcycle. This could be for example a mirror, small table, chair, bedside cabinet. We advise you not to purchase any additional equipment and materials until after the first session. Additional costs: £5 each at the start of the course to cover decorative materials
