What the college says

The UAL Awarding Body Level 3 Diploma has been designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to degree level study and employment in the media sector. In Year One, students will develop their technical and creative skills within themed projects in the fields of Film and TV Production. Focusing on techniques in Screenwriting, Cinematography and Camera Operation as well as Post Production techniques such as Sound Design, Editing and Colour Grading. Working with a cast and crew is essential throughout this course so you will also gain first hand knowledge of Planning and Project Management. Building on their developing professional level skills, in Year Two students will then move onto more client-led Assignments such as Live Event Filming, Documentary Filmmaking, Advertising and Music Video Production where they can build contacts with various emerging artists, businesses and production companies in the region and beyond. This course is delivered as two qualifications, each a year long (usually a national or 90 credit diploma in Year 1 and the extended diploma in Year 2). Students who are 18 years old when they start Year 1 will therefore be 19 at the start of Year 2 and may be subject to fees for the Year 2 qualification. All learners will need to successfully complete the Year 1 qualification to be able to progress to the Year 2 qualification.
