If you are thinking of a career in performing arts but are not sure yet, or you enjoyed performing arts subjects at school and would like to build your confidence before taking that next step, then this is the course for you. The course provides you with an excellent opportunity to gain an insight into potential career pathways, and a springboard to the next step; this course will provide a strong foundation to help you achieve your goals. You’ll develop practical performance skills and technical abilities, which culminate in a major public performance project at the end of the academic year. The College has been teaching performing arts for over 25 years, with staff members who have vast direct experience of the industry supporting and inspiring students. Studying performing arts as part of a highly creative arts college environment is very rewarding, with plenty of collaboration with other courses such as Music and Media Arts. The course is delivered alongside our Extended Diploma in Performing Arts in an extremely creative environment based around the Folly Arts Theatre, and our professional-standard dance studio. On completion of the course, you will have developed your self-confidence, presentation skills, leadership and team-working potential. As well as a personal career plan and improved performance skills, you will also have a deeper understanding of this challenging but very exciting industry!
What you need to get on
-Minimum 4 GCSEs grade 9-2 (previously A*-F) (to ensure that you qualify it is also highly desirable that you achieve at least a grade 4/C or above in English or maths) -Interview and audition
How you are assessed
One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
