What the college says

This is the starting point for anyone wanting to work in health, fitness or sport. You’ll learn to: Understand anatomy, physiology, and nutrition basics. Plan and deliver safe, effective gym-based sessions. Lead small group fitness classes. Support clients to build healthy, active lifestyles. Develop professional behaviours and customer service skills. Gain business skills in marketing, sales, and client retention.

What you need to get on

Some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended. The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary. There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

Is it open to 16 to 18 year olds?
