Duration 1 YearAll learners will undertake the following qualification:BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Award in Principles of Applied ScienceUnits covered are:Unit 1 Principles of Science (EXTERNAL EXAMINATION)Unit 2 Chemistry and Our EarthUnit 3 Energy and Our UniverseUnit 4 Biology and Our EnviromentYou will also undertake skills development and a number of in house projects to prepare for Level 3. Work experiance is mandatory and this will help to prepare you for progression.Regular weekly tutorials with your personal tutor are also a feature of the course.In addition to the above, you will also have to undertake a GCSE Maths and English if you havre not achieved at least Grade 4.

What you need to get on

Students will need to have ONE of the following:Level 1 in Science with a final strong overall Merit profile alongside GCSEs (or the equivalent grades) of at least a 3 in Maths and English.ORFour GCSEs at least a grade 3 to include Maths, English and Science.Students who do not meet this criteria

How you are assessed

Two-year technical qualification with a 45-day industry placement. Equivalent to three A levels.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
