The purpose of the Level 3 Performance and Excellence is to develop and progress students towards their intended career pathway of working within sports performance destinations within the industry. Bridging any knowledge gaps from finishing GCSEs to their course. This pathways is designed to support an students elite performance journey alongside their vocational studies, this is done through allocated training and strength and conditioning sessions (and if applicable, fixtures). During their academic journey students will be provided with opportunities and experiences which will aid their development and help them engage with those from the industry they are aiming to become part of. The course allows learners to study alongside training and competing in their desired sport to enable them to reach the highest standards they can. Students on this course will be studying a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, which is equivalent to 3 A-levels. Example units include: - Year 1 Units: Anatomy and Physiology (Exam), Fitness Training (Exam), Professional Development, Sports Leadership, Practical Sports Performance, Sports Psychology and Application of Fitness. - Year 2 Units: Coaching for Performance, Research Methods, Sports Development, Investigating Business (Exam), Skill Acquisition (Exam).
