This course is for Students who enjoy languages and have an interest in learning about foreign cultures. Students will have the opportunity to develop their language skills alongside their understanding of the culture and society of the countries where Spanish is spoken. In the first year the topics covered include Modern and traditional values, new technologies, equal rights, modern day idols, Spanish regional identity and cultural heritage. Students will also study a film. In the second year we look at multiculturalism in Hispanic society and aspects of political life in the Hispanic world in addition to the topics covered in the first year. Students will also study a book as well as undertaking an individual research project as part of their speaking assessment. What you need to get on

A minimum of five GCSE’s at level 6 from five separate subjects. Students will also need to have an average of 5.5 points or more from their GCSEs including grades 4 in English and mathematics and a level 6 in GCSE Spanish.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
