What the college says

Students will cover the historic, political and cultural landscape of Spain and the Spanish-speaking world and also cover two, popular cultural topics; Del Toro's El Laberinto del Fauno and Lorca's La Casa de Bernarda Alba. These topics look at Spain both before and after the Spanish Civil War and explore themes of repression vs freedom and reality vs fantasy. Students are encouraged to explore the Spanishspeaking world outside of the classroom to supplement their learning and broaden their horizons. A-level students are offered the opportunity to take part in an exchange with IES Sagasta, Logro�o, La Rioja, Spain each year. Staff organise tapas tasting at a local restaurant towards the end of each year. We also run a weekly 'chat club' where students can come and have a chat in Spanish over tea.
