Social & Community pathways course will help you develop your life skills ready to move into further education, Apprenticeships/Training or Paid Employment. Having real work experience will not only give you specific skills, it will open up new opportunities that you may not have thought of before. This course is for people who are interested in gaining the important life skills needed to live independently and to move into employment. It is suitable for students who are keen to learn practically. Students will gain a wealth of knowledge around different working environments and in addition to this will participate in a work placement. The course is specially designed for those who have had a break in their education due to bullying, social, emotional or behaviour issues. The class consists of eight learners giving a more nurtured and supported environment As part of the course units which will be covered are: Healthy Eating- where you will experience cooking healthy snacks and meals using a state of the art kitchen. Parenting Awareness- where you will experience looking after a virtual baby and gain understanding about childhood illnesses/accidents and support available for young parents. Making the most of Leisure time- where you will get to go to Eaton Vale and participate in activities such as Canoeing, Wall Climbing, Team building and Archery. What you need to get on
No formal entry requirements. The course is for students who are preparing for employment having come through other Inclusive Learning courses, or who are new to college and need to gain confidence and practical skills to progress into the world of work. Interview required.
How you are assessed
Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.
What this level means
A supported starting point if exams have not gone well yet.
Is it open to 16 to 18 year olds?
Not on the Section 96 list, but a school or college runs it full time, so check the age range with them.
