When someone asks you about your last birthday, how do you retrieve your memory of it from the millions of other events you have stored? Is Depression a genetically inherited disorder or is it to do with life events? Why do we obey some people and not others? Why do groups of people display prejudice against others? Why do adverts use celebrities to sell things to us? Psychology takes an objective, scientific look at these questions with plenty of quantitative data analysis based on experimental and other research methodology.

What you need to get on

No previous Psychology study is expected. You should keep in mind that Psychology is a science subject. An interest in applying scientific research methods to questions about the mind and about human behaviour is essential. There is a great deal of analysis and evaluation in Psychology. You should enjoy applying different theories to the same question and analysing research evidence to assess which theories have the most scientific support ? Students will be expected to have a grade 6 or above in English and a grade 5 or above in Science and Maths

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
