Physical Education A Level
at Greenshaw High School, Sutton · school or sixth form
What the college says
A level Physical Education focuses on the need for participation and performance as part of a balanced, active and healthy lifestyle. Students investigate how the body responds and adapts to exercise, the components of physical and skill fitness and methods of fitness training. The rationale of carrying out fitness assessments and the protocols associated with recognised fitness tests will also be considered. This theory content will be supplemented by a practical programme. Students will develop their knowledge and understanding of how competitive sport has developed over time and how and why lifelong involvement in sport is encouraged. By participating practically, students will be able to understand the vital role of coaching and feedback and how this has a dramatic effect on performance.
