A Level Physical Education is assessed through a written examination at the end of the year; an oral assessment of a practical performance and also in the performance or coaching of one practical activity. Throughout the course you will study units on: Applied anatomy and exercise physiology; Biomechanical movement; Skill acquisition: Sport psychology; Sport and society: The role of technology in physical activity and sport.

What you need to get on

Grade 5 in GCSE Physical Education which must include a grade 5 on the written paper. If not taken at GCSE then a Grade 5 in English or Science. Students must be playing competitive sport regularly outside of school.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
