This A-Level has a broad focus. The systematic study of religion includes the study of religious beliefs, values and teachings in their interconnections. This will be explored in terms of a historical context as well as in the contemporary world. Religious ethics includes the exploration of ethical theories and the application of ethical theory to personal, societal or global issues of importance, including religious ethical perspectives. Philosophy of religion includes the exploration of questions about the nature and existence of God, the problem of evil and suffering. Philosophical theories will be studied such as those of Plato and Aristotle. There will be exploration of questions surrounding life, death and the soul as well as religious and scientific understandings of creation.
