What the college says
This course is ideal for students who enjoy exploring complex questions about religion, philosophy, ethics and human belief. It suits those who like debating ideas, evaluating different viewpoints and considering moral issues that shape society. Learners study philosophical arguments, ethical theories and developments in religious thought, developing the ability to analyse, interpret and critically assess a wide range of perspectives. The course strengthens skills in reasoning, research, discussion and extended writing, making it excellent preparation for higher education and careers in areas such as law, politics, education, public service, philosophy and the humanities.
What you need to get on
For all Sixth Form courses, students must have five GCSE (or equivalent) passes at Grades 9-4, which must include Mathematics and English Language/Literature at a Grade 4 or above. Students also require a Grade 4 in GCSE Religious Studies (if taken).
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
