What the college says

This course will develop an interest and understanding of some of the fundamental questions of human life. You will gain an insight into how human beings try to answer them, something which might shape how you see society and yourself. You will begin to explore what it means to be a human being. We explore religious teachings on the nature and value of human life; the Philosophy of Religion, including atheism, postmodernism and the relationship between reason and faith, as well as questions of life, death and beyond and the problem of evil. The course is tested through examination only. This is a traditional essay based subject which is valued by universities because it develops the ability to understand logical arguments, and encourages you to express and defend your opinions. These skills are helpful in any degree course at university and are especially relevant to Humanities subjects and Law. Opportunities: Students attend Philosophy lectures and exam board workshops.
