The new BTEC National in Performing Arts 2016 combines up to-date industry knowledge with the right balance of the practical, research and behavioural skills students will need to succeed in higher education and in their chosen career. Investigating Practitioners, Developing skills and techniques for Live Performance, Group Performance workshop and an optional unit will form the structure of the two year Extended certificate. The wide range of vocational assessments including assignments, tasks and performances means students can showcase their learning and skills to best effect when they take their next step.

What you need to get on

It is important that you are interested in gaining a greater understanding of how theatre and plays work, and that you are keen to be involved with performances. A minimum grade of a 5 or above in English at GCSE and GCSE grade 5 Drama or BTEC equivalent and a high degree of personal motivation and creativity is also required to start this course.

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
