This qualification isn't about teaching learners how to care for babies or the elderly and the ill however; it will provide them with the skills, knowledge and understanding that will allow them to progress onto Higher Education on a health and social care-related programme such as Health and Social Care, Nursing, Social Work or Early Childhood Studies.The Level 3 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Health and Social Care is a vocational qualification which is designed with the workplace in mind and provides a high-quality alternative to A Levels. Cambridge Technicals provide a strong base for progression to university, apprenticeships or work and are recognised for UCAS tariff points. Learners will learn by applying their skills, knowledge and understanding to tasks or activities that are relevant to what happens in health, social care and child care workplaces and how to be proactive in promoting healthy lifestyles and supporting individuals within the sector. Having an appreciation of what happens in the workplace will also help to prepare learners for continuing their education in this sector. Learners will take 12 or 13 units, made up of mandatory and optional units.OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Health and Social Care 05315. This is the equivalent to two A Levels in terms of size and complements other A Levels, particularly Sociology and Psychology.

What you need to get on

Standard entry requirement is 38 points from 8 GCSE subjects (eg Grade 8 = 8 points) with at least a Grade 4 in English and Mathematics. Students need to gain at least a Grade 6 in a GCSE that they wish to continue at A Level
