What the college says
You will study seven units, Functional Skills and undertake work experience relevant to the course. Core Learning Units:- Communicationg in the IT Industry; Working in the IT Industry; Setting up an IT Network; Computer Systems; Website Development; Database Systems and Supporting Organisations through IT. Level 2 Functional Skills:- Literacy and Numeracy. Work Experience: students will spend 5-10 days working in industry. The placement will be meaningful and relevant to the subject area.
What you need to get on
You will need to have 5 GCSEs at grade D, including English, Maths and IT. Evidence of previous work experience would be useful. You will need to be interviewd by a member of the programme team before you can be accepted onto the programme.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
