This course is ideal if you are interested in a career as an IT practitioner or technician. You will gain a broad knowledge and understanding of, and develop skills in, the information technology sector and some aspects of the creative industries. This course covers many of the basic knowledge and practical skills required to progress into a career, further work related training or the BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in IT.
What you need to get on
Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English Language and Maths. At least one GCSE needs to be at grade 4 or above.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
