This course is validated by the University of the Arts, London (UAL) and has been designed to help you pursue a career in the music industry, giving you intermediate skills in performance, composition and related activities. Building on your existing skills, you will be required to work at a semi-independent level, as you develop knowledge and experience in composition, mixing, recording, live performance and production.Our music laboratories have industry-standard equipment, including Apple iMacs, equipped with Logic, Ableton, Midi Keyboards and fully functional recording studios with state-of-the-art mixing desks. There are opportunities to participate in live performances and you will study topics related to the music industry. There will also be visits, trips and work experience.

What you need to get on

You will need:Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and Maths or an equivalent Level 1 qualification at Merit (and Functional Skills in English and Maths)All applicants must have an interview and audition to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

How you are assessed

One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
