This course will provide students with a great introduction to the motor trade and allow development and growth of industry expectations. The motor vehicle aspects of this course will be taught in the college's workshops and technical classrooms. All students will need to take maths and English, unless they have a GSCE grade 4 that exempts them. Those wishing to pursue careers in all aspects of the Motor Industry will benefit from this course as it will provide a good introduction to the motor trade covering a variety of roles and will cover the following units: Introduction to routine servicing. Automotive foundation skills. Health and Safety in the working environment. Engine principles. Lubrication systems. Cooling systems. Ignition systems. Exhaust and emissions. Suspension systems Wheels and tyres. Braking systems. Electrical systems. Industry expectations and soft skills.

What you need to get on

Three GCSE at grade 2 or above, overalls and steel toecap safety boots for workshop sessions. Enthusiasm for motor vehicle engineering will need to be demonstrated at interview

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.
