Do you have a keen interest in how an automotive motor vehicle or an engine works? This could be the starting point of an exciting career in the automotive industry. This course is designed as the first step in your training toward being a Motor Vehicle Technician or mechanic. You will work towards a Technical Diploma. This course is for candidates wanting to develop some of the key skills and understanding in motor vehicle systems. Successful candidates will have the basic skills needed to apply for an automotive apprenticeship or similar engineering pathway. These qualifications could also be used as an ‘interest’ course for a wide range of learners.
What you need to get on
You will need at least 2x GCSEs (or vocational equivalents) at grade 1 in English and Maths to study this course. The course has elements of theory, alongside workshop practical. You will require a good level of English writing skills and be able to physically cope with the demands of practical work. We will request a school or college report to demonstrate your good attendance and engagement.

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.
