What the college says

In this qualification, learners will study biology, chemistry and physics which forms the foundation of health, life and physical science sectors. These sectors are wide-ranging, for example, nursing, allied health, clinical biomedical sciences, chemical engineering and physical properties of materials. This will give you a broad understanding of scientific principles including practical procedures and investigative skills along with scientific reporting. You will be assessed through the use of exams and coursework. It is ideal for learners who thrive in an engaging hands-on style of learning. This course is a Level 3 National Extended Certificate equivalent to one A-Level and can be studied as part of an A-Level programme.

What you need to get on

Five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English Language and Maths. Grade 4 or above in at least two Science GCSEs (or equivalent). We recommend that you take Core Maths alongside this course.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
