A Level Media Studies is designed to enhance your understanding and appreciation of the Media and its role in your daily life. The course introduces you to both Media ideas and the practice of production, which gives you the chance to develop a real understanding of Media Platforms, the contemporary Media landscape and the influential role of the Media in todays society. As a consumer youll become more aware of the many ways in which Media messages are presented to us, as well as discovering how the institutions which produce and distribute Media products are trying to reach you. A Level Media Studies is an established course which is accepted by universities and is also a fantastic stepping stone into the working industries. The broad range of topics studied allow you to sample a range of sectors in the Media. Producing and evaluating your own Media productions will give you a real hands on understanding of both how Media messages are created and what they are aiming to do. It would be very useful for anyone considering a career in journalism, broadcasting and most other sectors of the Media industry such as Marketing and Film. You will be assessed at the end of Year 2, sitting 2 exams. Component 1 focuses on Media Products, Industries and Audiences. This is worth 35% of the qualification.
