What the college says
The A-level Media Studies course is designed to: Enhance your enjoyment and appreciation of the media and its role in our daily lives Develop critical understanding of the media through engagement with media products and concepts and through the creative application of practical skills Explore production processes, technologies and other relevant contexts Become independent in research skills and your application in practical work and in developing your own views and interpretations. In Year 12 you will investigate the media by applying media concepts (media representation, institutions and audiences) to a range of media products in order to reach an understanding of how meanings and responses are created.
What you need to get on
Students must have achieved a minimum of a grade C for English for entry onto this course. A qualification in Media at GCSE is not required, but an ability to use ICT is also desirable.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
