What the college says

You may think Media Studies is about studying adverts, music videos and the news, and yes it is. However here at OSFC we use these media forms, and others, as a way of introducing and securing the challenging media theory that you will need in order to understand the significance of various media. We focus on how the media shapes the world we live in, and how it reflects the way we might be encouraged to see the world. Powerful businesses in the industry are significant players in how media is shaped, what messages it sends, and who can access it. If you are interested in discovering what lies beneath the surface of the media we regularly, and perhaps unquestioningly, consume, this subject is for you.
