What the college says
A Level Media Studies will provides you with the opportunity to explore the exciting and varied world of the Media. Half of the course is practical and is designed to enable students to develop skills in a broad range of production techniques, from video and film making to photography and graphics. You will also study high tech industries such as video gaming and the impact technological convergence has had due to developments in internet speed and access. You do not have to have taken Media Studies at GCSE to study this subject at A Level.
What you need to get on
It is not a requirement that you should have studied Media Studies at GCSE in order to take an A Level course in the subject. It is more important that you have an enquiring mind and are interested in both traditional media modes such as film, television and radio and also the fast developing new media technologies such as broadband, satellite and DVD. It is vital that you have an enthusiasm to explore and research media texts and a willingness to work within groups for practical work. A minimum grade of a 5 or above in English at GCSE is also required to start this course.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
