Further Maths is designed for students with an enthusiasm for maths, many of whom will go on to degrees in maths, engineering, the sciences and economics. This subject must be taken in combination with A-Level Maths and you will need to have achieved at least grade 8 in GCSE Maths. Most Further Maths students have achieved mainly 8’s and 9’s across the board in their GCSEs and the approach and pace reflect this.

What you need to get on

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above. Grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language. Grade 8 or above in GCSE Maths. This subject must be taken in combination with A-Level Maths.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
