The importance of Mathematics is nationally recognised and the number of entries in Further Mathematics has increased significantly in recent years. If you are considering a career in the fields of astronomy, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer studies, engineering, statistics, design and technology, business or mathematics, then you will need a high level of mathematical skill. Taking this option will give you the best preparation for university as you will have had the advantage of having had a taster of a wider range of topics. In the words of the Further Mathematics Support Programme which is used widely at West Kirby Grammar School -Let Maths take you Further. As well as covering the core Advanced Level topics described on the previous page, a further six modules will be taken. You should have Advanced Supplementary in two subjects after the first year and double Advanced Level after the full course.
