Examination Board: Edexcel Further Mathematics is designed to appeal to the most able mathematicians in the year and should be considered as an addition to Mathematics A-Level. It is particular useful to those students who are interested in degree courses with a large mathematical content. Consider the following questions: Where do you fit in? “Are you studying Physics?” The Mechanics parts of the course will already be familiar to you and will help with any university course in Engineering or Physics. “Are you studying Computing or IT?” You will enjoy the Numerical Methods units as this can use spreadsheets. “Are you considering a university course including Statistics?” The Statistics module will help you prepare for this. If you choose to study Further Mathematics, you will do so alongside A Level Mathematics and will be awarded 2 A Levels if successful. Further Mathematics A level is structured to allow the best range of opportunities for our students. A level Further Mathematics has a 50:50 split between compulsory and optional elements, with familiar option choices and defined content.

What you need to get on

Five GCSE's Grade 4-9, this must include Maths and English Language or Literature. In addition, GCSE grade 8-9 is required in the subject areas chosen to study at A Level.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
