What the college says
Further Maths is an A Level taken on top of A level Maths and takes topics covered in that qualification further, as well as introducing entirely new concepts. The students will study four units. The first two are Further Pure Maths units, introducing Matrices, Complex Numbers, Hyperbolic Functions and other new concepts. These are worth two thirds of the A level. The last third is evenly split between a unit of Discrete Maths studied in Year 12 and a unit of either Mechanics or Statistics studied in Year 13.
