What the college says
A Level Mathematics is a fascinating subject and takes the GCSE Higher Tier and builds on it in new and exciting ways. The course extends your understanding of algebra into new areas. Calculus, mechanics and statistics are a massive part of real-world mathematics and A-level Mathematics is where those areas are discovered and explored for the first time. This course, as well as it’s importance in an academic respect, gives you key life skills such as numeracy, data analysis, logical thinking, and problem-solving.
What you need to get on
You will need at least a grade 7 in Mathematics at GCSE. You will need to demonstrate that you are confident with the GCSE Higher tier course as this forms the basis for year 12 course.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
