What the college says
Mathematics covers three areas of study: Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Statistics. Pure Maths: An extension of the techniques and knowledge gained at GCSE. Developing algebraic and manipulative skills, graph drawing and trigonometry. New concepts are also introduced and developed including logarithms and calculus. Mechanics: The study of statics and moving bodies including forces and energy. Statistics: Presentation and analysis of data. Probability and probability distributions.
What you need to get on
Higher Level GCSE Maths Grade 7-9. (Students with a grade 6 in maths may be considered for an A Level maths entry test if the course is not fully subscribed).
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
