This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to develop competence as a social care worker in a range of social care support settings. This qualification develops the knowledge and skills needed when working in social care settings. It contains mandatory units which allow the learner to develop the knowledge and skills which are required for the role. During the course, students will complete a work placement within a social care setting, allowing them to further develop their skills and apply them in practice. Placement could be in a setting such as the below: • Residential or nursing homes • Domiciliary care • Day centres • Some clinical healthcare settings • Community settings • Children’s home • Supported housing • Day centre • Homeless shelter • Supported living

What you need to get on

5 GCSEs Grade 4-9, including English Language. Maths should not be below a Grade 3.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
