What the college says

Core Mathematics is an AS Level qualification taken over 2 years which is designed to be at a difficulty level between GCSE and A-Level Mathematics. The qualification is designed to cover mathematics which is relevant to the real world, such as statistics and percentages among other topics, applying them to a variety of real world subjects including personal finance, business, social media, fashion and viral diseases. The course has been developed under the supervision of employers and universities in order to contain the mathematics they consider to be most relevant. Although a new qualification, universities and employers have already commented favourably on the idea of continued mathematics study. What could I go onto next? Core Mathematics is beneficial to anyone but is particularly useful for students who plan to go on to further study subjects with a mathematical content such as Economics, Geography, Biology or Psychology. Generally the course provides a sound basis for the mathematical demands students will face at university or within employment across a broad range of academic, professional and technical fields.
