This introductory qualification is the first step towards becoming a qualified teacher or trainer in the Learning and Skills Sector. It is recognised and valued nationally by employers and so if you want to go into teaching or training, it is an excellent qualification to hold. The course is delivered through practical activities, discussions, presentations and reflective practice. The Award replaced the established ‘PTLLS' qualification. What will I study? The units you will study are likely to include: Student needs Reflective practice Roles and responsibilities of teachers Session planning Inclusive learning and support for students Teaching and learning approaches Assessment methods All units are subject to change and may be withdrawn. Progression and Career Opportunities: Following this course you could progress to a Diploma or Certificate in Education and Training, if you have an appropriate teaching or training role and appropriate subject specialist, English and maths qualifications. The Level 5 Diploma is the nationally-recognised full qualification for teaching in the Learning and Skills sector and the Level 4 Certificate is the nationally-recognised full qualification for trainers.
What you need to get on
You must show the ability to work at Level 3 in the assignments. You do not have to be teaching or training during the course but should be aware that you would need an appropriate qualification and/or experience in the subject you wish to deliver, for any future teaching or training positions. You will be required to attend an advice and guidance session. You will be given a short English assessment so that we can ensure that you will be able to cope with the level of study required.
