Geography is regarded as an excellent link or facilitating subject by Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. You would be suitable for this course if you are interested in the key ideas and debates in our world today, such as global warming and the impacts of climate change and how globalisation is changing peoples lives and how the use of resources is to be managed in the future. You need to have a grade 6 in at least one Humanities subject and be able to learn and remember case studies and theories. You must be prepared to talk and debate in class and ask questions. There is an expectation of attendance to a residential field trip as there is a Department of Education requirement of four days fieldwork practice. This course combines well with both Humanities and Science subjects and in particular Biology, Physics, Sociology and History. It also goes very well with Business Studies and Economics.

What you need to get on

A minimum of 5 subjects at Grade 4 or above, including at least one of GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics. A minimum of a grade 6 in a Humanities subject (Geography or History)

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
