What the college says

You will be suitable for this course if you enjoy performing, directing and developing your understanding of different genres and styles of theatre. You need to be a confident performer and have the desire to improve your performance skills branching into challenging non-naturalistic styles. You will have had previous experience in performing for example through GCSE Drama or Performing Arts or outside of school. You will be expected to read a number of plays; therefore, an interest in literature and interpreting literature is useful. You will also study the application of technical theatre and how it aids the communication of meaning on stage. This course combines particularly well with English Literature, History, Music and Psychology. The analytical and evaluative written skills, and creativity in these subjects will support learning in Theatre Studies.
