This course is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to help you progress into a career in the plumbing industry. The course covers a range of in-depth knowledge and practical units, including health and safety, scientific principles, hot and cold water systems, central heating systems and sanitation. As part of your course, you will also undertake work experience to increase your employability.

What you need to get on

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above (if this does not include English and maths these MUST be studied as part of the Level 2 programme) or Level 1 Functional Skills equivalent in English and maths; successful interview and initial assessment; successful completion of Level 1 programme (progressing learners).

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
