This programme has been designed to give you the enhanced skills and knowledge you need to work in the Carpentry industry. With teaching and instruction from specialist staff you will gain knowledge and learn a wide variety of practical skills in the area of: - First and second fix operations - Interpreting construction drawings and information to produce timber products - Set out, prepare and erect structural carcassing operations - Repair and maintain timber products - Prepare and use fixed and portable power tools Health and safety is of paramount importance in all areas of the construction industry, and this will be reinforced throughout the course. Vocational core skills of English and Maths will be embedded in the programme along with specialist delivery to enable learners to reach GCSE grade C or equivalent standards to meet industry requirements. In addition to the specialist skills described above, we will help you to develop a range of wider skills that will make you into a well-rounded professional who will be highly valued by employers and universities. What you need to get on

To access this course you will need to have completed the Level 1 Carpentry & Joinery and attend interview with Level 2 course tutor with information regarding the course.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
