What the college says

Have you ever wondered what it takes to design, make, produce and run a show or film? Our Level 2 Production Arts course is an ideal foundation from which to explore the essential elements that make up theatre and film production (and beyond!). On the course, our students create meaning and storytelling through costume, set design, prop development and production management. This course is highly practical. You will learn through a combination of workshops, practical assignment briefs and regular projects. To complement your learning we organise a wide range of trips which help to broaden your understanding of production skills.

What you need to get on

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above. One of these should be English or maths. Students with lower than a grade 4 in maths and/or English will resit as part of their study programme. Some previous production work (school or amateur) or a portfolio would be advantageous but is not essential.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.

Is it open to 16 to 18 year olds?

Approved for 16 to 18 study on the government's Section 96 list.
