What the college says

This course would give you the basic skills and knowledge necessary to enter the plumbing industry as an Improver/Plumber's Mate. It will not make you a fully qualified plumber but it does form part of the training you would need to become fully qualified in the future. Level 2 will suit you if you demonstrate aptitude, or have some basic plumbing knowledge and skills either through industry experience or if you already have a level 1 plumbing qualification.

There are not set entry requirements for this qualification. However, centres must ensure that candidates have the potential and opportunity to gain the qualification successfully.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
