The Level 2 Diploma in Maritime Studies (Sea Fishing) provides training and development for young people aged 16 - 24 years, who wish to enter the catching sector of the fishing industry. The course is suitable for a wide range of candidates including: school/college leavers, people returning to education, the unemployed who wish to enhance their job prospects, and people wishing to move from one sector of the maritime industry to another.
What you need to get on
Every learner without exception will need to pass the MCA’s strict ENG1 medical requirements. This test includes, but is not limited to, severe deafness or difficulty communicating by radio or telephone, eyesight or colour vision that does not meet standards, and conditions that limit mobility and stamina. Learners without Functional Skills Level 1 English and Maths will need to achieve this level prior to completing the course.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
