Please note, places on this course are prioritised for 16–18-year-old learners. Adult applications will be considered once these have been filled. This is a Marine course with a difference! A unique experience to study Marine Vessel Maintenance in greater depth. This course runs over 2 years, providing you with a wealth of skills such as Health and Safety, Hand fitting, Engine, and Plant Maintenance, Welding, using Lathes, and Forming and Assembling Pipework, to name a few (hence the need for 2 years). This course has been designed with the assistance of the Marine Industry and provides you with all the skills needed to progress into either our L3 Diploma or an Apprenticeship in Marine, Automotive, Aviation, or Engineering.

What you need to get on

You will require a minimum of Grade 4 in mathematics and 3 GCSEs in Grades A*-D (9-3) including English. Alternatively, successfully completing a relevant Level 1 qualification and achieving a Level 2 Functional Skill in maths and a Level 1 Functional Skill in English.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
