You'll learn how to install different cable types and containment including steel wire armoured, micc, conduit, trunking and cable tray. You'll also learn how to inspect and test these circuits to industrial standards to prove they're safe. You'll study the underpinning theory that all electricians require including principles of science and in-depth knowledge of the I.E.T. regulationsThrough this course you'll learn about:Health and safety in building services and engineering Principles of electrical science Electrical installations technology Installation of wiring systems and enclosures Communication with others within building services and engineering.

What you need to get on

Three GCSEs at grade C or above including maths, English and Science or; A level 1 qualification in a relevant subject area, passed with Merit or Distinction grade - plus maths and English grade D or above, or functional skills level 1 maths and English

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
