What the college says

This course is a progression from the Level 1 study programme to further develop skills in bricklaying. It’s about increasing trade skills to meet the needs of employers. The course consists of practical and theory and both parts of the course need to be successfully completed to achieve this qualification. Employers will expect good attendance, good behaviour and good communication skills enabling you to interact with clients, work safely, using initiative as well as having bricklaying skills.

What you need to get on

4 GCSEs grade 4 or above. BTEC Introductory Award, appropriate NVQ Level 1, or another relevant Level 1 or Foundation qualification. You will have a preinduction interview/assessment to make sure this is the right level for you.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
