What the college says
This qualification requires learners to be working or have a placement in an early years setting for a minimum of 12 hours a week, term time. The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years. Learners will be required to attend online training sessions during term time one evening a week. The sessions will be interactive drawing best practice and underpin knowledge to enable to learner to gain evidence for their portfolio. Learner work will be assessed by various methods which include; written tasks, work products, observation in the work place, professional discussion and reflective practice.
What you need to get on
Learner must be 19 years plus, working or volunteering at a setting for a minnnimum of 12 hours a week. The learner must be engaging with the children in daily routines and activities. Must hold Enhanced DBS (Not volunteer)
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
