What the college says

The Level 2 Early Years Programme will help you on your journey working with children through the study of child development, safeguarding children and communication. Youll gain hands-on work experience working in different early years settings, adding practical skills and the application of knowledge to your CV. Developing activities and carrying out observations on children, youll be well prepared for progression following this Study Programme. This qualification allows progression on to the Level 3 Childcare programme. Alternatively, students can progress into various job roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors, such as nursery assistant, classroom assistant or pre-school assistant.

What you need to get on

4 x GCSEs at grade 3(D) or above, including Maths and English In addition: Satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure Baring Service (DBS) check

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
