The Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner provides learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children aged 0–7. The purpose of this diploma is to work and interact directly with children on a day-to-day basis, supporting the planning and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes within the ethos of an early years setting.
What you need to get on
Learners must be aged 16 or over to enrol on this qualification. There are no formal prior learning requirements, although centres may have their own guidelines. Learners must also be working, volunteering or completing a practical placement in an early years setting in order to demonstrate the knowledge and skills required for the qualification.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
